La Casa de la Marquesa
Guests go back in time to Queretaro, a
16th-century city two hours north of Mexico City. The place to stay for honeymooners is La Casa de la
Marquesa, one of the city's oldest and grandest mansions. Located in the
heart of downtown, this lovely 25-room Baroque-style inn features exquisitely
carved stonework, graceful wrought-iron balconies and lovely gardens.
Hacienda Taboada
On
the outskirts of colonial San Miguel de Allende is the
charming Hacienda Taboada. Formerly a working ranch, it is now a
beautiful resort hotel. Honeymooners can relax in thermal baths, go for
long horseback rides, swim or play
tennis.
After a
few days of newly-wedded bliss, you'll want to venture out into the town and
explore the magnificent churches, quaint plazas and many craft shops of San
Miguel de Allende, a town so historically and culturally significant that the
entire city was declared a national monument. Its most striking feature is the
neo-Gothic La Parroquia Church whose spires can be seen for miles around.

Quinta
Real Hotel
More than a mile high on the windswept plateaus of central
Mexico, lies the breathtaking city of Zacatecas. Many consider the local
Baroque-style cathedral to be Mexico's finest church. The Quinta Real Hotel here
offers the honeymooning couple a unique experience.
The modern Quinta Real was built
around the city's colonial-era plaza de toros. Tiered terraces surround the
circular bullring. The top tier is a glass-encased hallway leading to rooms that
are sumptuously decorated with heavy Spanish colonial furniture. Most come with
fireplaces and marble bathrooms. There are lovely fountains, gardens and plazas
throughout the hotel and a special cave-like bar with numerous dark alcoves
ideal for lovers.
